It is served by Theydon Bois tube station on the Central line and has one primary school, Theydon Bois County Primary School. It lies on the edge of Epping Forest. Theydon Bois Village Park is also the perfect addition to entertain the little ones.

Epping Forest is one of the man attractions of Theydon Bois. Epping Forest is of national and international conservation importance and home to over 50,000 ancient pollard trees and 100 lakes and ponds. The forest is free to visit and is open 365 days of the year. When Queen Victoria visited Chingford on 6 May 1882 she declared “It gives me the greatest satisfaction to dedicate this beautiful forest to the use and enjoyment of my people for all time” and it thus became “The People’s Forest”. The City of London Corporation still manages Epping Forest in strict conformity with the Epping Forest Act.

In Sydney Road sits the Theydon Bois Tennis Courts, a members only court which many people frequent for games of tennis and other similar sporting activities. This is also the case with Theydon Bois Golf Course and Theydon Bois Cricket Club – also members only with their own bar to socialise with fellow players. Staying true to Theydon Bois’ village-esque roots, Theydon is the home to a row of shops, restaurants and Pubs, along with a dentist and a doctors. Tesco Express sits on the edge of the green, open until late, while beside sits two Indian Restaurants, a selection of hairdressers and beauty bars, a dry cleaners, a bakery, an Italian and Turkish Restaurant, and a café. The Indian Ocean is a notable staple of Theydon Bois, being a frequented joint for local celebrities and residents. The Queen Victoria and The Bull are the two pubs in Theydon Bois, being situated a short walk from each other, and both being very popular in the community.

Travel

Theydon Bois is situated just a short drive from the start of the M25 in Waltham Abbey. The M11 starts in South Woodford in northeast London, meeting the M25 Motorway at junction 6.

Stansted airport is a short drive via the M11 with Luton airport is also relatively close, being approximately a hour away with Gatwick approximately an hour and 20 minute drive.
